Hustle Dance workshop

2 PM – 3:45 PM and 3:45 – 5 PM – Tanssisali Lutakko

Welcome to dwell deeper into the hustle! Hustle is a social street- and club partner dance from the 70’s New York, USA, founded and developed by people of color and people from the LGBTQIA+-community. Hustle is mostly danced to disco, funk, house, RnB and pop and paved the way for a more inclusive and gender neutral approach – anybody can lead and follow. More detailed description of the workshop coming soon.

Denie was introduced to hustle by local community leaders in Brno, Czechia in 2012. Intrigued by the technical complexity of the dance she geeked out and traveled around the globe to exchange ideas on the dance. Her main focus for the last 10 years has been figuring out how to deepen the connection between dancers so both can express their innermost selves.

In this workshop we will NOT go through the basics, so if you want to learn them before you can join the Saturday 9.9 jam (location and time provided soon), OR if you want to learn the basics even before that you can contact elli.a.heiska(at)gmail.com for any hustle sessions happening in Jyväskylä or if you happen to pass by Helsinki you can check out the hustle sessions there provided by Hustlinki (hustlinki(at)gmail.com or @hustlinki on instagram). 🌟

-The workshop will be held in English – questions can be asked also in Finnish or Swedish. The workshop will be from 2:30 PM – 3:45 PM with a 15 min break at 2:45 PM.

—————————————————————————————
Where: Lutakko 40100 Jyväskylä
When: 10.9.2023 from 2 PM to 3:45 PM, social from 13:45 PM to 5 PM —————————————————————————————

Safer Space Guidelines:

To make everybody attending the workshop feel as comfortable and safe as possible, everybody attending is asked to read through and commit to the Safer Space Guidelines provided. If there is something you would like to ask about them, change or add to the list, please don’t hesitate to contact us through ronjaajansson(at)gamail.com or elli.a.heiska(at)gmail.com. All feedback is welcome <3

  • Let’s not make assumptions about gender, background, sexuality, ethnicity, health, identity etc of others.
  • Let’s ask for consent.
  • Respect each other as well as your own boundaries (physical, mental and emotional).
  • Let’s be aware of the privileges and prejudices we have as well as the space we take.
  • No harassment or discrimination of any kind (racism, sexism, fatphobia, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, ageism etc) is accepted here. If you experience, see or hear anything that is not okay – intervene and/or come to talk with the Hustlinki/Seta/SADE staff.
  • Let’s accept, respect and welcome everybody to come just as they are💜
  • Let’s not assume leader- or follower roles for each other – anybody can lead or follow 🌟
  • Let’s ask permission to take photos and/or videos of other people as well as about posting them online. (This will also be asked at the beginning of the workshop!)

These guidelines above are inspired by Javiera Marchant, Urban Apa and Feminist Culture House.

Any questions about anything? Send an e-mail to ronjaajansson(at)gmail.com or elli.a.heiska(at)gmail.com🌟

SADE offers Seta members a reduced ticket to Sunday’s hustle workshop for 17,50 €. Show us your membership (IG @jklseta or email jklsetainfo@gmail.com) and you will receive a link to purchase a discounted ticket from us. See you in the hustle! <3
